Tongji University (simplified Chinese: 同济大学; traditional Chinese: 同濟大學; pinyin: Tóngjì Dàxué), located in Shanghai, has more than 30,000 students and 8,000 staff members (as of 1 September 2007). It offers degree programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. One of the oldest and most prestigious universities in China, Tongji was established in 1907 by the German government together with German physicians in Shanghai. It is especially highly ranked in engineering, among which its architecture, urban planning, and civil engineering departments consistently ranked first in China for decades.

Q: What degrees will be awarded?
A: Upon successful completion of the Program, students will be awarded Tongji MBA degree and post-graduate diploma of Tongji University, and MSM Finance degree of Case Western Reserve University.
Q: What is the global ranking of Case Western Reserve University?
A:Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio has a history since 1826 and is one of the nation’s leading research universities. The University counts 16 Nobel Prize winners among its alumni and historical faculty. It is ranked No. 38 by US News & World Report in 2011.

Q: What is the students’ professional background?                   
A: Students come from various professional fields, ranging from financial industry, manufacturing, service industry, logistics, IT, mass media, financial management to consulting business. These companies are state-owned enterprises, foreign companies, joint ventures, private enterprises, or self-owned enterprises. Students with science and engineering academic background, although not from financial industry are favorable.

Q: How long does the whole program last? Is there any chance for studying in the main campus in U.S.?                                  
A: The Program lasts for 2.5 to 5 years. Three MSM Finance courses will be delivered at CWRU main campus in Cleveland without extra tuition. These courses will be taught in about 5 weeks during the summer holiday in the second academic year.

Q:What’s the course schedule?                                    
A:Courses will be delivered in part time; therefore it won’t influence working time. Most of the contact hours will be arranged in one evening of working days and one day of weekends per week in principle. There is no class during national holidays and winter holiday. Detailed schedule is according to updated class timetable.

Q: What are the entry requirements and assessment criteria?            
A: Students should meet the entry requirement of Tongji MBA and have a good command of English in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Two rounds of interview by both universities (the interview by CWRU will be conducted in Shanghai) is required before the final enrollment.
As for assessment criteria, we value the overall quality especially communication skills and learning ability.

Q: Does this Program open for pre- enrollment exam interview? What are the procedures?                                                    
A: Yes, our program is open for pre- enrollment exam interview year-round. Applicants should first complete the Application Form in the “Download” and email to We will inform you the next procedures.  

Q:What is the size of class? Are English language tests, such as TOEFL, IELTS, or GMAT a must?
A: The class size will be about 35 students per class in order to achieve the optimum. There is no special requirement for English language test such as TOEFL, IELTS or GMAT. 

Q: What is the dissertation requirement?                             
 A: Dissertation of Tongji MBA is required while MSM Finance doesn’t require another dissertation.

Q: What is the tuition of the Program? How should I pay?                                       
 A: The total tuition is 250,000 RMB. Students pay 100,000 and 150,000 RMB (converted to USD) respectively to Tongji University and CWRU. The tuition of Tongji should be paid at the beginning of each academic year, and the tuition of CWRU should be paid upon receiving notice from CWRU.

Q: What else does the program offer apart from the double degrees?                           
A: Students will be officially registered in Tongji University and Case Western Reserve University, entitled with all the resources and services of the two universities, including teaching resources, information platforms, alumni platforms and libraries. Alumni gathering events, including forums, social clubs, and parties will be organized on a regular basis to broaden network.
